GMCC Recognizes Jen Daly-McFadden in the ‘Community Proud’ Series, Sponsored by Charter Oak Credit Union
The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is pleased to shine a spotlight on Jen Daly-McFadden in our Community Proud series sponsored by Charter Oak Credit Union.
Jen Daly-McFadden has lived in Connecticut for more than 20 years, building a career rooted in storytelling, public service, and trust. Originally from Massachusetts, Jen moved to Connecticut to work at NBC Connecticut, first as Executive Producer, and later Managing Editor. Her NBC career spanned more than 15 years with jobs in Boston, Charlotte, Washington, D.C; and New York City, giving her a broad perspective on media, policy, and people.
Today, Jen is a partner at Gray Media, a Boston-based public affairs firm where she has worked remotely since 2009. She often describes public affairs as public relations for policy. In her role, Jen helps corporate and non-profit organizations shape and advance policy priorities, with much of her work focused on healthcare. She regularly works with patients and families to share personal stories that illustrate how policy decisions affect real lives, particularly around patient access at both the state and federal levels.
Jen’s commitment to service began early. After losing her mother at age 13, she grew especially close to her aunt and uncle, who instilled in her the importance of giving back and finding purpose through service. That lesson has stayed with her throughout her career and community involvement.
Although Jen and her husband Dan always spent time in Mystic, including many days on the water, the decision to fully settle in southeastern Connecticut came when she left television news. After living in Greenwich and commuting into New York City, they moved first to Old Lyme and then to Stonington in 2012, where they have built a life and lasting relationships.
Giving back remains central to Jen’s life. She is proud to be involved with Girls on the Run-- an organization she describes as truly transformative. She has seen young girls gain confidence, emotional strength, and pride through the program. Girls on the Run offers programs designed to inspire girls of all abilities to recognize and embrace their inner strength and make meaningful connections with others. Trained coaches use physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social, emotional and physical skills while encouraging healthy habits for life.
Jen will be coaching her fourth season at Mystic River Magnet School this year. She is President of the Board of Directors of Girls on the Run of Southeastern Connecticut.
Jen also serves on the board of directors of Lord’s Point Association, where she is in her fourth term as president.
Outside of work, Jen enjoys staying active through running, spin classes, and Pilates. She loves reading and engaging with her book club, cooking at home, and spending time with Dan and their pets, including basset hounds Nellie and Daisy and their cat Fennie.
With close friendships and the deep connections she and Dan have formed, they know southeastern Connecticut is where they belong.
