An art-history talk on gardens and artworks from the late Middle Ages through the Renaissance formal garden (Versailles) Connecticut College Professor Emeritus of Art History Robert Baldwin will show how designed landscapes communicate values across time, looking at garden imagery in religious, aristocratic, and emerging middle-class contexts. Audience discussion links historical examples to contemporary New England gardens and public green spaces.
