🎶 AN EVENING OF ORIGINAL MUSIC WITH DOUBLE VICE! 🎶 Join us on November 6th at 7 pm at Chestnut Street Playhouse for a special cabaret featuring Michael Frishman & David Smith, the talented duo known as Double Vice! 🎸🎤 Featuring their original music, this dynamic evening blends Latin, swing, jazz, blues, and rock influences into an energetic performance that will have you tapping your toes—and maybe dancing in your seat! Michael Gerard Frishman is a professional musician who has been performing, writing, recording and teaching music most of his life. Michael presently owns and operates his own recording studio in Westerly, RI where he writes and records music with David Smith now known as the duo, Double Vice. Michael studied arranging and composition at Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee, Michael studied Bass with John Neives, and John Repucci. He was also in the Wes Hensel recording ensemble and has studied with other great bassists such as Miroslav Vitous and Harvie S (Swartz). In addition, he taught private, acoustic upright and electric bass lessons at Berklee College of Music which included a variety of styles such as jazz, rock, blues and classical. Michael has performed cabaret at the Eugene O’Neil Theater with Penny Fuller and Josi Davis for Charles Strouse’s Birthday celebration and also performed with New York cabaret artist Julie Rayburn. He has appeared with Chuck Jackson, The Shirelles, and Red Buttons. He opened for Chuck Mangione and Jeff Lorber Fusion Band at Toad’s Place in New Haven, CT and also opened for James Cotton and James Montgomery at the Mystic Theatre with The Chris Leigh Band. Michael has also performed with Jazz saxophonist Greg Abate, Jazz guitarist Mitch Seidman , Jazz vocalists, Diane Mower, Jan Ferguson and many other local jazz artists. Over the years he has performed with many bands across New England and New York which include Hitchcock Railway, Mitch Seidman Group, Jazz Player’s Quartet, Joint Chiefs of Jazz, Hot House, Shaded Soul, Fisch & Friends, The Zingers, String Theory Combo, The Chris Leigh Band, Shiny Lapel Trio with Tiger Marion, Pianist Ken Fischberg and many other Jazz, Blues, and Rock musicians. David Smith has enjoyed a long and diverse musical career. He began as a rock guitarist and vocalist with Cedar Street West, performing music by Steely Dan, Bruce Springsteen, and Eric Clapton throughout New York and along the Jersey Shore. He later Co-founded Razmataz with Cindy & Rob Kelly, serving as drummer, guitarist, and lead vocalist. Known for its dynamic three-part harmonies and distinctive interpretations of jazz standards, Razmataz performed throughout New England for more than 20 years. David also performed in the duo Time Between Us with Steve Cleary and later joined the vocal group Zingerz with Kip Sturgeon and Dan Bernier. Most recently, he has been writing and recording original music with Michael Frishman, with releases available on Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, Amazon, and YouTube under their Duo name, “Double Vice.” Their recent work blends Latin and swing influences , creating an energetic sound designed to inspire dancing. ✨ One night.
