Smith, an 18th century American farmer and craftsman, who was kidnapped from his home in Africa and sold to a slave owner in Stonington, CT before eventually obtaining his freedom in 1765. Ms. Steenberg will offer an
in-depth understanding of the many facets of slavery in 18th century New England through the lens of the life of Venture Smith and his family.
