Director of Development
MMoA seeks a highly ambitious, organized, adaptable, and results-driven Director of Development (Director) to manage and strengthen the Museum’s fundraising operations. The Director oversees all fundraising and membership efforts to successfully reach or exceed annual contributed income goals.
Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director (ED), the Director will spearhead development efforts as MMoA continues to grow. The Director will have the opportunity to build and shape the development efforts, including major gifts, annual fund, grant writing, membership, and special events.
Founded in 1913 as the Mystic Art Association, MMoA has since evolved into a dynamic regional arts institution. Located on a scenic riverfront site in historic downtown Mystic, the Museum serves a broad audience through exhibitions, studio classes, and community programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute annual fundraising plan
- Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with major donors
- Secure financial support and sponsorships from individuals, foundations, and businesses
- Manage and implement development systems, best practices and administration, including fundraising database and gift processing
- Manage annual fund and membership drive
- Oversee organization of special events
- Develop and track proposals and reports for all grants and corporate fundraising
- Manage contributed income budget and report progress at Board meetings
- Staff the Board Advancement Committee and support their fundraising efforts

Qualifications
- BA (required), MA (a plus)
- Visual arts, museum, or nonprofit background preferred
- Five-plus years of development experience
- Experience with fundraising software/donor databases
- Proficiency on multiple computer platforms, including data management, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Suite
- Effective social media skills
Details
- Exempt, full-time
- The salary range is $85,000-$110,000 commensurate with experience, plus an attractive benefits package.
