About

Always Home is a private 501(c)(3) non-profit social service agency dedicated to addressing the emergency housing needs of Eastern Connecticut’s low-income families. For the past 28 years, Always Home has worked exclusively on behalf of families with minor children. Their comprehensive Family Housing Support Services create a vital safety net for families in housing crisis and include: Homelessness Prevention; Shelter Diversion; and Enhanced Homelessness Prevention services, including Wheels to Work and Childcare Solutions programs. By providing proactive services and targeted resources, Always Home helps families stabilize their housing and move forward in their lives.

The organization also plays a key role in Connecticut’s homeless response system, providing timely interventions and reducing reliance on the emergency shelter system. As a designated Family Hub for the 211/Eastern Coordinated Access Network (ECAN), Always Home provides families who are homeless or within 14 days of homelessness with intake assessment and case management services.

Every year Always Home serves a growing number of families experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness. In Fiscal Year 2026 (July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026), they assisted 603 families in housing crisis (1,956 family members including 1,135 children under the age of 18). This represents a 26 percent rise in service numbers compared to the previous fiscal year, marking the highest number of clients served in a single year since the nonprofit's establishment in 1998.
