Property Leasing & Management
Eastern Connecticut Housing Opportunities, Inc. (ECHO) is a private, nonprofit housing development corporation founded in 1989. ECHO’s efforts are divided between three areas of operation: 1) first-time homeownership programs (rehab/new construction); 2); housing developer consultant for other nonprofits and municipalities; and 3) the ownership/operation/development of mixed-income rental properties individuals and families for a total of 286 existing rental units and another 448 in the construction pipeline.
Mission: To provide affordable housing to families in Eastern Connecticut whose combined income is too low to support the purchase or rental of a home at market rates in the communities in which they work and wish to live.
Objective: To build housing that otherwise would not be built and to make that housing available to people who would not be able to afford it without ECHO’s assistance. We strive to develop housing that is compatible with its surrounding area, and equal to market-rate developments in design and build quality.
Development Area: ECHO has performed development activities in the following Eastern Connecticut towns and cities: Groton; New London; Norwich; Lisbon; Sprague; Montville, Waterford; Noank; Brooklyn; Plainfield; Stonington; and East Lyme.
